New Delhi: Union minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey, known for his controversial statements, on Saturday, September 1, trained his insult gun at AICC president Rahul Gandhi and said that he suffered from ” some mental disease like schizophrenia” and even likened Rahul to a ‘naali ka keeda’ (sewer worm).

While Rahul was not the only target of Choubey’s insult gun, the remarks made about him drew flak from the various members of the opposition as well as BJP ally the JD(U).

The nasty remark about the Congress president has understandably raged the party members. In response to the insult, Congress leader Premchandra Mishra attacked Choubey saying that he “does not have control over his tongue” and quizzed if the minister was under the influence of marijuana.

Even though the BJP tried its best to wash its hands of the issue by stating that Choubey’s remarks were his personal opinion and not a reflection of the views of the party, the Congress has accused them of showing “fake respect” for Hindu traditions as the insult came at a time when Rahul was on a pilgrimage to the Kailash Mansarovar shrine.

The BJP leadership was also attacked by the RJD who said that they should have learnt how to behave in public from the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee rather than turning the former prime minister’s death into a spectacle.
