An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale hit the Ladakh region near Kargil at 9:30 pm on Monday night, said the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

“Earthquake of Magnitude:5.2, Occurred on 19-02-2024, 21:35:17 IST, Lat: 35.45 & Long: 74.93, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 148km NW of Kargil, Laddakh, India,” the NCS said in an X post.
According to the NCS, an earthquake with a Richter scale value of 3.8 was detected in Kargil on February 3. Ten kilometers was the recorded depth of the earthquake.
“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.5, Occurred on 04-02-2024, 14:37:15 IST, Lat: 25.80 & Long: 90.69, Depth: 12 Km , Region: East Garo Hills, Meghalaya,” the NCS said.
In December 2023, parts of North India and Pakistan were jolted after an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Ladakh’s Kargil.
