In a recent alarming incident in Nagaland, a woman was met with a horrifying revelation when she opened her takeout fish curry from a nearby restaurant. To her dismay, live maggots were found wriggling atop the curry, resembling garnishes. The scene was captured on video and quickly gained traction across various platforms, posing questions on hygiene.
Reported by HornbillTV, a Nagaland-based news outlet, the woman had ordered the dish from Choudhary Hotel in the village of Pherima. The discovery of maggots in the meal highlights apparent lapses in hygiene standards and inadequate food storage practices at the establishment.
As a consequence, the village council opted to seal the hotel’s operations for approximately one month following the widespread dissemination of the video.
Additionally, prior to this incident, social media witnessed another unsettling occurrence. A video shared on Instagram depicted a white worm found wriggling amidst a Gulab Jamun sweet. The confectionery was sourced from Adyar Ananda Bhavan, purchased at Ashok Nagar metro station in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The accompanying caption expressed disappointment with the establishment’s negligence in packaging the sweet box.
These incidents underscore the critical importance of stringent hygiene practices and meticulous attention to food quality and safety standards within food establishments.
