Kolar: Sri Nirmala Nandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Matha has called upon Vokkaligas to be ready to gather whenever he gives a call for protest pertaining to reservation.
Speaking to mediapersons in the City, he said, “The 4 per cent reservation for Vokkaligas, who constitute 16 per cent, is not enough and if our demand is not fulfilled as per the law, there is a demand in the community to raise our voice in the future,” he said.
Swamiji said, “The overall reservation as per the rule of law cannot cross 50 per cent. There is also a feeling in the Community that if the State Government goes beyond that limit to provide reservation, it should increase the reservation for Vokkaligas from 4 per cent to 12 per cent.”
Swamiji added, “There was a big agitation in 1993 on the issue of reservation. Community leaders are talking about the need for another such struggle. In addition, Vokkaliga land in and around Bengaluru is being lost from our hands. The fight ahead is inevitable.”
