Bengaluru: When general public are deeply divided over the pros and cons of the demonetisation implemented on November 8, 2016 by the Modi Government, three pro- people orgaisations have organised a public debate over the issue on January 22 in Bengaluru city.
They have openly invited BJP/ RSS leaders who have been justifying the demonitisation for this debate. None other than renowned activist, Supreme Court advocate Prashanth Bhushan will participate in this debate to counter the arguments made in favor of the demonetisation. Bhushan who is one of the prominent crusader against corruption through his Public Interest Litigations (PILs) is opposing the whole demonetisation move ever since its announcement.
The organisers- Karnataka Janashakthi, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti and Swaraj Abhiyan have been wanting the Right wing leaders to take part in the event and as expected they had sent in a request to orator Chakravarthy Soolibele, who has been touring the state spreading awareness on the importance of demonetisation to take part.
However, in a rather shocking move, Soolibele, after keeping the organisers waiting, has now turned down the offer to come face to face with the people who can counter his arguments.
On Monday evening, Chakravarthy Sulibele declined to accept the challenge and posted on his FB: “A journalist urged me to accept the challenge. But, I replied that even a young boy from Yuva Brigade can answer the questions at the debate. I have asked them to send their questions so that I can answer them in written.”
The organisers have scheduled the event for January 22 at 10.30 am at the senate hall of the Bangalore University central college campus.
Soolibele backing out from the debate now gives way for suspicion. Is the BJP not in the position to answer the demonetisation queries?
