Mangalore : Fr Henry Castelino, former chancellor of Mangalore Diocese and former principal of St Philomenas college, Puttur and St Marys College, Shirva was laid to rest at the priests’ cemetery at the St Vincent Ferrar Church, Valencia on June 14, Friday in the presence of hundreds of mourners including priests, religious heads and the laity.
Fr Henry Castelino had breathed his last on June 11 at the age of 80. He was residing at the Senior Priests’ Home at Jeppu.
Fr Aloysius Paul DSouza, Bishop of Mangalore was the main celebrant of a mass held on the occasion.Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, Dr Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Archbishop of Delhi and other priests concelebrated the Eucharistic Mass.
Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendore Church, who delivered a sermon described Fr Henry as a kind hearted priest who helped the needy students.
Fr Norbert DSouza, a close friend of the departed Fr Henry Castelino and a neighbour of the Senior Priest home at Jeppu where Fr Henry spent his last days, paid a fitting tribute to Fr Henry.
