Bidar: Amritrao Chimakode, President of Mahatma Bommagondeshwara Institute of Education, said that Kanakadasa has become a light for mankind through his keerthanas.
He was speaking after inaugurating Kanakadasa Jayanti and release of a book on the life of Retired Agriculture Officer Bakkappa Nagore at Shivajinagar. Kanakadasa’s keerthanas help in correcting the ups and downs of the society. They also show the right path, he said.
“Kanakadasa was a great poet. He wrote keerthaans, travelled the country and worked for the upliftment of mankind,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahitya Parishat District President Siddaramappa Masimade said that there are solutions in the books to many of the present problems. In today’s mobile age, there is a need to preserve and nurture the book culture, he said.
Writer Sanjeevkumar Atiwale, who gave an introduction to the book, said, “Bakkappa Nagore has done many social work along with his profession. He said that a book on his biography would be an inspiration to social workers. Many people in the society acts do not come to limelight. Bakkappa Nagore joins the ranks of such people.
I have tried to capture his life and achievements in the book,” said the Author of the book M. G . Ganganapallil.
Retired Agriculture Officer Bakkappa Nagore presided over the function and said that the society will one day recognise and honour those who render honest service.
