Kodagu: Minority Unit of Madikeri Town Congress Committee has demanded that in the name of Dasara Janotsava, electric lamps are being decorated for Dussehra festival, which is covered with moss without Paint.
City President of Minority Unit K. G. Peter and the officials who visited Kaveri Kalakshetra were very upset about the chaos there. The people of Madikeri are in the mood for grand Dussehra celebrations but only the Municipal Council is preparing to celebrate Dussehra in a dull atmosphere, .said Peter. He added that he will start to protest from Saturday September 24 to condemn this.
He warned that if the electric lights installed now are not cleared and not whitewashed, he will start an hourly sit-in satyagraha in front of Kaveri Kalakshetra from September 24. The Municipal Corporation receives crores of rupees from the government for development works. But the Kaveri Kalakshetra in the heart of the town has been neglected and remains undeveloped, he said and alleged that an attempt was being made to hide the chaos of the Kalakshetra by using electric lighting.
He questioned whether the municipal council is in a dire situation where they don’t even have money to paint at least.
There are hundreds of artistic talents in the town who lack suitable venues to showcase their talents. Kaveri Kalakshetra is chaotic and in a very deplorable condition. He expressed displeasure that the municipal council, which is supposed to bear the responsibility of building the new arts centre, is also failing to apply whitewash on the occasion of Dussehra.
Madikeri Block Congress Minority Unit President M. M. Yakoob, City Vice President M. E. Farooq, Organising Secretary Rehman Khan and Treasurer M. H. Aziz were present.
