Uttara Karnataka’s special Girmit, favourite tea-time snack

Girmit recipe is a very famous street food from North Karnataka prepared from Churmuri. This girmit snack recipe is popular in the Hubballi – Dharawad City region of North Karnataka. Girmit is also known as Mandakki and is served mirchi, bajji and menasinakayi.

When said churumuri (puffed rice), the first thought that comes to your mind is the taste of mouth-watering Uttar Karnataka special snacks Girmit. The crunchy and tasty, this healthy snack is a mainstay in most households of the region.

In Girmit recipe, mainly the gojju is prepared using onion, tomato, tamarind, and curry leaves, lastly adding gram (putani) powder. But in sukha girmit or sukka girmit instead of tomato and tamarind, little lemon juice is used. All other ingredients remain the same.
