Loan apps seem to be up to a lot of mischief these days and here is a recent case where a woman from Wilson Gardens Bangalore falls prey.

For starters, the woman reported that she made no claim for a loan and yet began to receive multiple notifications, stating huge sums of money being credited to her as loan. 

While she did install a loan app called AMC Credit Park, she made no request for a loan. Things began to worsen when the woman began receiving various calls from people who threatened to leak morphed images of her and her daughter, calls from various country codes like Bangladesh, Indonesia and even USA.  

What’s ugly is that some of those in her contacts too, came forward to report that they were receiving these pictures. From this, it is only clear that one cannot be too careful in this world of loan sharks who are on the rise these days, threatening people by hiding their IP address. 

Meanwhile the woman has lodged a complaint at the Central Cyber Economics and Narcotics Crime police station at Bengaluru, under sections 66D and 67 of the Informational Technology Act. 

In other words, the offenders will be charged with cheating by personation and publishing obscene materials. And with that, the Bangalore police now urges people to be on the alert and abstain from entertaining unauthorised service providers.
