Mysuru: Activists of The Taluk Sugarcane Growers’ Association staged a sit-in protest near the flyover on the Mysuru-T. Narasipur National Highway against the arrest of sugarcane growers in Bengaluru.

Speaking on the occasion, Sugarcane Growers’ Association District General Secretary Kiragasooru Shankar alleged that despite repeated requests to the Government for the past several months to give a fair price for sugarcane, the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and the Government have not responded.

Association Taluk President Kurubur Siddhesh said that the Government has done injustice to farmers in some areas by providing subsidy in some Districts. After holding meetings and promising them, they cheated the farmers by not fixing the price, he alleged.
