Chikkamagaluru: Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said that we will prepare young leaders in the JD (S) for the next 2028 elections. He said that preparations are on to improve the economic condition of the farmers in the State and to develop a leadership that will be the voice of the farmers.
He was speaking to mediapersons after participating in the Pancharatna Ratha Yatra at Devanur Village in the Constituency on Wednesday March 1.
Responding to a question on giving ticket to Sonal Gowda, son of late S. L. Dharmegowda from Kadur Constituency this time, he said, “I am 64 year old now. By the next 2028 elections, it will be 69. By then I might retire from politics. For this reason, Sonal Gowda and Nikhil should all become leaders for the next generation.”
Former MLA Late S. R.. Lakshmaiah was a close associate of Deve Gowda, and we have not forgotten the loyalty of his sons S. L. Dharmegowda and Bhojegowda to the party.
“If our Government comes to power this time, I will make Bhojegowda a Minister and pay tribute to Lakshmaiah,” he said.
“We will discuss the ticket issue with Deve Gowda and decide on the ticket issue. He knows everything about it. We will take a final decision after consulting them without any disturbance or confusion,” he said.
The strike called by the employees demanding the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations is due to the BJP government’s self-inflicted insurgency. He said that earlier at the Government Employees’ Conference that the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission would be implemented, they ate sweets and were felicitated and now they have announced it in the Budget without giving the employees any clarity, he said.
