Mysuru: In Nanjanagudu, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESCOM) Officials and employees staged a protest demanding a pay revision.
The officials and employees of CESCOM gathered in front of the office of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation on President’s Road in Nanjanagudu City and raised slogans against the Central and State Governments. The Karnataka Electricity Transmission Corporation Employees’ Union have called for an indefinite strike by the officers and employees of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KTPCL) and CESCOM.
The employees said that they should take part in an indefinite strike demanding implementation of the wage revision by not attending to duty.
Madhesh, a Member of the Central Executive Committee of CESCOM, said that the salaries of officers and employees should be revised and the order should be implemented with effect from April 1, 2022 otherwise, the protest will continue by remaining absent from duty from March 16. And the electricity will be cut off for an hour. The Government is directly responsible for this so the public and consumers should not blame us, he said.
“Employees work in the middle of electricity risking their lives. So many people have lost their lives. Between 500 and 600 of our employees die every year. We should be paid our salaries according to what has been on our agreements or else there will be a fierce struggle in the coming days,” he said.
