New Delhi: The Congress party’s spokesperson, Professor Gourav Vallabh, resigned from the party. He was a senior Congress leader who used to represent the party in TV debates on economy and finance-related issues.

He resigned from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party on Thursday. His resignation is a big blow to the Congress party, which is preparing itself for the Lok Sabha election.

Calling the grand-old party ‘directionless,’ Vallabh, in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, cited reasons such as caste census and said that he cannot raise ‘anti-Sanatan’ slogans.

“I do not feel comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatana slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country. I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party,” Gourav Vallabh wrote on X.

Vallabh unsuccessfully contested the assembly election in Rajasthan’s Udaipur constituency in 2023. He was defeated by BJP’s Tarachand Jain. On Wednesday, boxer Vijendra Singh quit the party and joined the BJP.
