Bengaluru: In light of the detection of a new sub-variant of Omicron in India, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials have stated that while there are no restrictions on celebrations, they must be organised in accordance with the Covid – 19 guidelines that were released by the State Government.

BBMP released the guidelines on Saturday December 24 following a meeting between the State and Union health departments. BBMP Chief Tushar Girinath issued an order to deploy marshals at all strategic places to ensure that the rules are adhered to in the meantime.

To ensure that more people are covered, the BBMP will increase its mobile testing facilities and vaccination units.
