Sports Min inaugurates National level bodybuilding competition

Mangaluru: A swimming pool at a cost of Rs 5 crore, a cricket stadium in a nine-acre land in Kottara and a turf on the football ground at Nehru Maidan at a cost of Rs 80 lakh were the assurances given by Minister for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Fisheries K Abhayachandra Jain after inaugurating the 64th National Body Building Competition at Nehru Maidan on Friday, February 13.

He said that bodybuilders from Dakshina Kannada have brought laurels to the country and have shown the potential that our district has, adding that the National level body building competition of this stature has further brought him happiness.

District Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, Health Minister UT Khader and MCC Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred were present among others.

A cultural programme will be commence at Nehru Maidan at 5.30pm today.

Following this, displays of various categories will be held. Bharath Kumar will be held at 6pm, Bharath Shri at 7pm and Fitness Competition at 8pm. The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 9pm followed by a culturtal programme at 10pm.
