Puttur: In the second biggest theft in a week in the same locality, thieves have fled with valuables worth Rs 15 lac from the residence of a doctor couple here on Saturday night.

It is said that Dr Suresh Puttaraya and his wife Asha had left to Mangaluru on Saturday morning.

Their domestic help too had left the house after finishing the daily chores. However, when the domestic help returned to the house on Sunday morning, on opening the main door, she realised that the house was burgled. She immediately contacted the doctor couple.

The thieves had gained entry into the house from the back door and fled with Rs 30,000 in cash and gold and other valuables running into lakhs of rupees.

The cops pressed a dog squad into action.

About five days ago, a house at Parladka was burgled when the residents of the house were away.

Investigations into both the cases are on.
