Puttur, Jul 20: A case has been registered at Puttur rural police station in connection with the assault on Pambaru Pradeep Rai, a close aide of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Pradeep Rai was parking his car near Boluvaru Hospital when a group of men in a Duster car allegedly abused and assaulted him, and fled. They also stole a ring and Rs 9,000 cash from him.
Pradeep Rai has been admitted to a private hospital in Puttur and is undergoing treatment. Pradeep Rai was in charge of Somwarpet block Congress in Kodagu district during the assembly elections. He was successful in strengthening the party at the booth level. He also managed to win Congress candidates in Kodagu.
