Navalgund: The Irrigation Advisory Committee of the Malaprabha Project, convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, has resolved to release water from the Malaprabha reservoir into the canal for a duration of 15 days, starting from September 22. Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who chaired the meeting, stated that this decision was made in order to ensure the availability of drinking water.
MLA N.H. Konareddy highlighted that the water scarcity issue has arisen primarily due to insufficient rainfall. In light of this situation, he proposed releasing water to prevent inconvenience to the public. He recommended a targeted approach, releasing drinking water as needed while ensuring that sufficient water is allocated for agricultural irrigation purposes.
