Belagavi: A devastating accident between a car and a tipper at Bambaraga Cross in Belagavi district resulted in the tragic deaths of a 12-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man. The victims, identified as Sameeksha Deyekar and Mohan Maruthi Belgaokar, were relatives. The incident occurred late Wednesday night, causing both vehicles to catch fire, making escape impossible for the occupants.
The collision took place when a car carrying four people collided with a tipper at Bambaraga Cross in Belagavi. The impact caused damage to the diesel tank of the tipper, leading to a swift and uncontrollable fire that engulfed both vehicles. The victims, who were returning from a marriage ceremony, were trapped in the burning car, and despite efforts by locals and passersby, two occupants could not be rescued in time. The deceased were identified as Mohan Maruthi Belgaokar and Sameeksha Deyekar. Two other occupants, Mahesh Belgaokar and Sneha Belagundkar, sustained serious injuries and were rescued from the car. The injured individuals were rushed to a private hospital for treatment. The police, fire department, and emergency services personnel worked to extinguish the fire.
The Kakathi police have initiated an investigation into the collision, aiming to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. The driver of the tipper vehicle surrendered to the police, and further details regarding the investigation are awaited.
