Bidar: The borewells, which were the source of water for the residents of Tegampura Thaanda in Bhalki Taluk of the District, have dried up in the scorching heat, forcing residents to migrate to distant fields for potable water.
The water crisis in Thaanda has been aggravated by the fact that four borewells have been abandoned for nearly six months now.
Now that the summer season has started, the intensity of the water problem has increased every day. So, the members of 20 families in Thaanda have to wander the fields in the evening and morning for potable water,” said Prakash Jadhav, a resident.
“Every day, we bring water from a distance of two kilometres. If there is no electricity when we go to fetch water, we have to wait for hours,” the Thaanda women said.
