Chamarajanagar: The effects of the Bengaluru shutdown have extended to the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border, leading to heightened police presence at the interstate border near Chamarajanagar district.
Bengaluru is currently under a total shutdown in protest of the Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu. As a precautionary step, Tamil Nadu police have been stationed at the Hassan Karyapalya checkpoint and Gundlupet Kekkanahalla along the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.
Additionally, vehicles traveling from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka have been restricted. Vehicles, including buses and cars, intending to reach Talavadi from the Sathyamangala direction will not be granted passage through the forest region, which includes Dimbam Talamalai, via the Punajanur checkpoint along the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka state border, as per police instructions.
Government buses are currently operating routes to Sathyamangalam, Coimbatore, Tirupur, and various other regions via the Dhimbam Talamalai forest area. Tamil Nadu police are actively involved in ensuring security along the state border.
