Bengaluru: Real Star Upendra has joined wagon of several film stars who have tried their luck in politics by floating their own party.
Launching ‘Karnataka Prajnawantha Janatha Paksha’ on Tuesday at Gandhi Bhavan, Shivananda Circle, Upendra said that he will field candidates in all the 224 constituencies in the state during the upcoming assembly polls and that he would refrain from supporting or joining hands with political party at the state.
A press meet that followed the launch of the party too was distinct. Uppi, as he is fondly called by his fans, made the reporters occupy the stage and he stood among the audience and spoke to the reporters.”The people are the rulers in democracy.
Keeping this in mind and with the concept of bringing about a change in political arena, I have started the Karnataka Prajnawantha Janatha Paksha (KPJP) ,” he said calling upon each and every citizen to first initiate a change within.
Terming the voters as the catalysts of change, Uppi said that areas like agriculture, education and healthcare needs extra impetus.He said that the party which will remain independent in all circumstances and scenario, will have its people as its High Command.
With regard to upcoming polls, he said that already 50 to 60 candidates are keen on contesting the polls. “I will be their brand ambassador and I will campaign for the candidates,” he said adding that when one indulges into politics, he earns enemies, but when he involves into ‘Prajakeeya’ where people take centre-stage, he makes only friends.
