Chennai: A 25-year-old female techie, R. Nandini, was brutally murdered, allegedly by a 27-year-old transman named Vetrimaran. The half-charred body of the victim was discovered in Thalambur on Saturday night.

According to the police, Nandini was found chained with deep injuries from a blade on her neck, hands, and legs. The accused, Vetrimaran, was arrested on Sunday for the heinous crime, believed to be fueled by revenge after Nandini rejected his proposal.

Both Vetrimaran and Nandini, originally from Madurai, had been employed at a software company in Thoraipakkam for several months. They initially developed a friendship that blossomed into a romantic relationship. However, complications arose when Vetrimaran disclosed his gender identity as a transman and proposed to Nandini, who subsequently turned him down.

In response to her rejection, Nandini started a new relationship with another man, further enraging Vetrimaran. Seeking revenge for the perceived betrayal, Vetrimaran lured Nandini on her birthday under the pretense of a surprise. Once in an isolated location, he tied her up and, using a blade, inflicted severe injuries before setting her ablaze.

The gruesome act has raised concerns about the safety of individuals in personal relationships and underscores the importance of addressing issues related to rejection and revenge in a more sensitive manner. The police are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the brutal murder.
